Top Maui Beaches

Not only is Maui home to white, black, and red sand beaches – but many of these incredible beaches are easily accessible with plenty of amenities and include popular snorkeling, surfing, and windsurfing spots.

Makena Beach
One of Maui’s best beaches, Makena Beach is a spacious and scenic beach perfect for swimming, relaxing, and snorkeling. A volcanic outcropping actually separates the beach into parts: Big Beach and Little Beach. Because the beach is secluded and undeveloped (which contributes to its beauty), few amenities are available – so just go prepared. 

Kaanapali Beach
Kaanapali Beach is a picture perfect beach along the west coast of Maui amid the center of Maui’s higher-end resorts and hotels. Although this beach is beautiful, don’t make the mistake (if you are staying in the area) not to venture out and explore other beaches.

Hamoa Beach
Located towards the end of the famous Road to Hana, Hamoa Beach is a stunning crescent beach with soft golden sand. This is a perfect place to take a break from the road and catch a wave or wink or two.

Road to Hana

Technically, this is not a beach but it is a journey that any Maui visitor should take. This curvy 52-mile long road follows the rigged coastline of Maui’s eastern island and is complete with stunning view, incredible waterfalls, hair-splitting curves, and 59 bridges. The saying is “It’s about the journey, not the destination” holds especially true for this trip – you are encouraged to stop and enjoy the sights along the way, there are many!
