Oahu, nicknamed “The Gathering Place”, is the most populous of all the islands, about 2/3 of the entire state’s population lives on Oahu. Oahu is also home to Honolulu, the state capital and is a diverse island ranging from urban city life to pineapple plantations and quiet surf towns. Top Oahu Beaches

Waikiki Beach
One of the most famous beaches in the world, Waikiki Beach is synonymous with surfing. It was here that the legendary Duke Kahanamoku made surfing a popular pastime by teaching the tourists that flocked to Waikiki in the early 20th century. Surrounded by high rise hotels and resorts, Waikiki is also home to many shopping opportunities, great dining, and nightlife. 

North Shore
Oahu’s North Shore beaches are famous for their huge winter waves making it a must-stop destination for experienced surfers. The legendary Banzai Pipeline is famous for its huge, picture-perfect waves but please keep in mind that the waves in winter are extremely rough and should only be attempted by experienced surfers. Most of the world’s premier surfing competitions are held during the winter on the North Shore.

Lanikai Beach
Probably one of the most beautiful of many beautiful beaches, Lanikai Beach is often ranked as one of the best beaches in the world. This narrow white-sand beach looks out over the Mokulua Islands and is one of the most photographed beaches in Hawaii. Spending a day in this quiet, tranquil place is literally spending a day in paradise.
